When Moms 'Get it'

It's been a while since I've blogged here but here's something worth sharing.
I don't usually quote from comments people leave when they join our project's mailing list, but the one we received this morning was so eloquent and heartfelt, it really needs to be shared. Even more importantly, it comes from a mom who 'gets it.'
As I've written before, only when moms and dads work together can change really have a chance to happen. Thanks, Cindi, for the reminder of how important this really is. It's moms like yourself who are going to make the difference.
Anyway, here's what she wrote:
I ran across Dr. Kyle Pruett’s video on the “Importance of Dads” on the RebelDad.com web page. I can't express to you the joy I felt watching this clip. It supports what I have believed for a longtime, that men who become dads, are considered and treated by society as non-essential in their children’s lives. That the mothers are considered to be the most important person to their children, when in reality, if you look at the stats they speak volumes as to how important these men are in the day to day lives of their children. Dr. Pruett caught my attention immediately when he stated this fact. I have witnessed first hand what happens to our children when a positive male role model is absent in the lives of their children. I equate this to the fact that many young women from broken homes who were without the benefit of a father in their life repeat their fate on their children by having children too young and trying to find something of their own to love. I believe this is due to the absence of the positive male in their lives. This cycle needs to stop. Thank you, I am going to find the full video and book if I can. Oh, did I mention that I am a woman, a daughter, a wife, a mother and a grandmother. Our Dad's are very important.

Sexist Judge from Conyers, Georiga.
What a great story Dana. I agree 100%.
Did you hear about the judge in Georgia who stated that he was a “Sexist” in court? Recently during the onset of child custody hearing, judge Sidney Nation of Rockdale, GA stated that he was a “Sexist” and ruled that all visits must be supervised by and “Adult Female” one with some “Domestic Skills”. Nation’s also stated that “Under No Circumstances” would he allow any man to have unsupervised overnight visitation with child under the age one. Transcripts provided the father (Plaintiff) clearly bear out that judge Sidney Nation's is not gender-neutral, nor does he free the litigation process from predetermined assumptions regarding the relative roles and attributes of a men and woman in a child custody case. Do you think this judge should be sitting on the bench?

"Do you thin this judge should be sitting on the bench?" -Um yeah, absolutely! What an ignorant judge, who obviously has no qualms about subscribing to stereotypes and gender profiling.
the more loving adults in a child's life,
the better! We need all the male and female role models we can get- dads, uncles, grandpas, 'honorary' uncles, as well as the moms, aunts, grandmas. Male and female teachers and caregivers of all stripes!
