As Moms, We Think About the Kids

Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and CEO of MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on the presidential debate last night:

“The moms of America were appalled last night by the disgraceful display we saw from President Trump during the presidential debate. Millions of moms watched the debate with their children, thinking it would be educational and teach them about how leaders from different parties would solve the challenges facing our country today.

“Instead, we saw the President of the United States put on a shocking display of rudeness and rule-breaking, a cascade of lies, callousness and cruelty, and an absolutely shameful refusal to condemn white supremacy, hatred, and the violence they bring. The President behaved in ways we would never tolerate from our children.

“As moms, we want to make sure our kids have positive role models. President Trump last night was the opposite of that. Our children deserve better.”
