Cruelty and Zealotry of Abortion Opponents Again on Display as Trump-Appointed Judge Rules to Deny Moms, Pregnant People the Only Option Many Have Left for Abortion Care.

America’s Moms Call on Biden Administration to Challenge Ruling Now.
“Today’s ruling by an extremist anti-abortion federal judge would have devastating consequences for moms and pregnant people who need abortion and their families. Once again, the cruelty, misogyny and zealotry of abortion opponents is on display as a Trump-appointed judge ignored every leading medical association in this country and ruled to make abortion even more difficult to access. Despite clear evidence that mifepristone is safe and effective and causes fewer major medical complications than Tylenol or Viagra, Judge Matthew Kacsmaryk is second-guessing the Food and Drug Administration to deny moms, and all those seeking abortion, access to a medication they need. His ruling must never take effect. The Biden administration must act swiftly – in mere days – to secure our access to mifepristone.
“If it takes effect, Judge Kacsmaryk's ruling would intensify the immense chaos and suffering caused by the devastating SCOTUS ruling last June in Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization and the state abortion bans it allowed, which have resulted in women being denied not just abortion care but also birth control, care for miscarriages, medications they need and have long taken, and other essential services. Low-income women and moms, women of color, young, rural and immigrant women, people with disabilities, and those who are LGBTQIA+ are suffering the most. The ruling this evening in Amarillo would exacerbate that suffering by denying many of us the only option we have left to control our reproductive lives.
“America’s moms reject the dangerous post-Roe world the federal courts have created, and anti-abortion extremism in all its forms. Most people who have abortions are moms, and moms want abortion care to be accessible to all who need it, regardless of where they live, their financial status, or the source of their health coverage. Being able to choose if we have children, and if so, when and how many children to have, which includes access to abortion care, is a fundamental right. Politicians, judges, and justices have no right to make the most personal decisions of our lives, to ignore medical standards, or to take away our autonomy and our right to be free and equal members of society.
“Everyone must be able to access the health care they need. Reproductive rights are human rights. Denials of safe medications and other health care, and forced births are never okay. Moms are voters and we will not accept tyranny of the minority or allow extremists to take away our essential liberty.”
