TPS is a temporary protection granted to nationals of certain countries experiencing severe conditions that prevent safe return, while DED provides similar protections but is granted by presidential discretion. Both measures are essential for Ecuadorian and Colombian immigrants, ensuring work authorization, family unity, and economic stability amid the resurgence of anti-immigrant policies and the threat of mass deportations.
The leaders will call on President Biden to enact these protections before his term ends, as they would protect thousands from deportation and prevent the painful family separations the Trump administration’s immigration agenda will cause.
