MomsRising Is Turning Out the Moms Vote This Year!

A roller skating and pizza party with moms and kids in Pittsburgh to get people ready to vote. A family-friendly celebration to kick off early voting with a magic show, voting resources, and snacks in Charlotte. A “Be Vote Ready” party with a live musician, storytime for kids, a coloring station, snacks and more in Manchester. Those are among the thousands of voter education and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) events that MomsRising, the online and on-the-ground organization with 1,044,000 members and their families, has held as part of its unprecedented work to turn out mom voters by November 5.
Already well underway, the MomsRising Education Fund’s 2024 GOTV work includes:
- 72,025 MomsRising members are handwriting more than 5 million postcards and sending them to infrequent mom voters nationwide. The pre-printed postcards, to which moms are adding personalized messages, say: We love our kids more than anything. Vote for our freedoms, our families, our futures. In the final two weeks of the campaign, MomsRising members are sending digital postcards as well.
- These volunteers will send more than 20 million mom-to-mom GOTV texts before election day.
- MomsRising members are organizing at least 2,025 GOTV events, including 95 in Arizona, Georgia, Montana, Nevada, North Carolina, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. For example, more than 250 moms turned out for MomsRising’s circus-themed “Family Fun GOTV Day” in Winston-Salem, North Carolina last weekend. Pennsylvania MomsRising members have held more than 40 GOTV events including a large “Family Voting Party” on October 17th.
- MomsRising is phoning one million mom voters to encourage them to make a plan to vote.
- The organization is spending more than $750,000 on digital ads targeting low-propensity mom voters with an ad that lifts up the joy of motherhood and the fun of voting with kids, family, and friends. This highly effective program micro-targets video messages to one million low-frequency moms with voting information. The best-testing video says, in part, Our votes are our promise for a better tomorrow for our kids… Voting with kids, family, and friends is fun. Together we make the future. Join us. Vote with joy and with your kids on or before November 5th. Be a voter. Raise a voter.
- An expanded Spanish-language program in Arizona and Nevada that is reaching tens of thousands of Latina moms at Zumba parties and community events, where families will talk about the importance of voting.
“There are 94 million mom voters in this country, and we are a powerful political force,” said MomsRising Executive Director and CEO Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner. “We’re voting because we know that when so many people are having the same types of crises — with child care unaffordable and inaccessible, millions of hardworking parents without any paid family and medical leave, aging and disability care too often out of reach, and a stubborn and devastating wage gap – then we don’t have an epidemic of personal crises, we have national structural issues that we can, and must, solve together. We’re doing a tremendous amount to turn out moms and women this year.”
MomsRising pioneered the “Be a Voter, Raise a Voter” MomsVote program in 2018. The multi-layered GOTV program aimed at infrequent Mom Voters has a strong history of success.
