Seriously, Mr. President?

“President Trump’s lie-filled speech shows that he is every bit as out-of-touch with the contributions and needs of America’s moms and families as the billionaires whose interests he protects so fiercely – and he is doing enormous harm to our economy and to small businesses.
“The President touted his inflationary tariffs, which threaten real damage to the finances of families already struggling to pay for food, child care, heat, clothing and other essentials, and threaten to cripple small businesses and American farms, and hurt our economy.
“He lied about the Republican budget proposal, which will necessitate life-threatening cuts to Medicaid and other health care, and gut food and nutritional programs, K – 12 education, child care, and other programs that let hardworking families contribute to their communities and our economy – all just to fund massive tax cuts for billionaires and wealthy corporations.
“He used ugly, inflammatory, xenophobic rhetoric coupled with outright lies to once again divide us and demonize immigrants.
“And his silence on issues of paramount importance to moms and families, as well as businesses and the economy, including paid family and medical leave, fair wages, racial justice, child care, home-based care for people with disabilities and older adults, maternal health, and gun violence speaks volumes.
“In the six weeks President Trump has been in office, he has done nothing to reduce actual costs for families, secure our small businesses, or protect our children. Instead, he has caused the stock market to fall, and ignited deep concern among real families across the nation who are struggling to live paycheck-to-paycheck, fearful of losing the Medicaid they use to get health care for their loved ones, and questioning how they will afford groceries with rising costs caused by his reckless, unnecessary tariff war.
“Moms want the administration to treat federal workers who provide essential services with respect; and to fund programs that protect our health, help families feed our children, improve maternal health and K – 12 education, treat immigrant families fairly, fund paid family and medical leave, and make quality, affordable child care and home-based care available. We want the wealthiest individuals and corporations to pay their fair share in taxes – instead of getting a $4.5 trillion dollar tax cut. We want our federal government to advance programs that open doors for hardworking families to make ends meet, contribute to their communities, and survive.
“President Trump offered a devastating agenda tonight – one that imperils the financial security, health, and survival of moms and families, and threatens our country’s future.”
