America’s Moms Need a Federal Government that Works. The U.S. Senate Must Block All Nominees Who Fall Short.
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
“Our nation’s moms and families want our food to be safe, our medical research to be rigorous and to shape health policies, our justice department to uphold the law and pursue justice without political agendas, and our military to welcome all skilled, capable people. Moms want our government to be run by highly qualified people with integrity, expertise, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to the health, safety and well-being of every person in our country. Many of the nominees President-Elect Trump has announced so far fall short of those qualifications.
“Cabinet appointments are serious business. They are not platforms to spread propaganda and conspiracy theories, stoke division, pursue vendettas, or reward loyalty. America’s moms want the federal government to work, which requires leaders with impeccable records and a deep commitment to public service. It is very clear that several of President-Elect Trump’s nominees – including Matt Gaetz, Robert F. Kennedy, Peter Hegseth, Stephen Miller, Kristi Noem, and Tulsi Gabbard – are without the qualifications required for the positions they will be nominated to hold.
“We turn to the U.S. Senate to do its duty and investigate every nominee carefully, refuse to confirm all those who are not highly qualified, and block every attempt to use recess appointments to put in place nominees who will undermine our federal government and with it, our health, safety, and security.”
