A Dream Act that Offers Relief to All Immigrant Youth, Farmworker Bill Will Strengthen Our Communities, Make Our Country More Just, and Help Us Overcome the Racism and Xenophobia Trump Unleashed
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
“America’s moms want Congress to pass a fair, inclusive Dream and Promise Act and the Farm Workforce Modernization Act very soon, so President Biden can sign them into law. Creating a path to citizenship for those in the DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) program has strong bipartisan public support. The introduction of these two bills in the U.S. House of Representatives is an important step toward creating a path to citizenship for nearly 2 million undocumented young people in the only country most have ever called home and providing farmworkers and their families with an opportunity to earn legal immigration status. Passage would also help people eligible for Temporary Protected Status and Deferred Enforced Departure, whose futures are uncertain right now.
“While we support passage of these bills, we urge members of Congress to ensure that the final version of the Dream and Promise Act does not include harmful provisions that would deny relief to Black and Brown immigrant youth who have been targeted by racist policing or our unjust criminal justice system.
It’s past time our country recognizes the enormous contributions that all immigrants are making to our success”

“We owe a debt of gratitude to the young immigrant activists who have fought so effectively for this legislation, and to the representatives who introduced these bills. Moms want lawmakers to pass them both, with adjustments to the Dream and Promise Act to remove provisions that perpetuate racial disparities and without any weakening amendments, before the upcoming recess. Their enactment will strengthen our communities, make our country more just, and help us overcome the racism and xenophobia President Trump unleashed and stoked. We must end the cruelty and racism that pervade our immigration system, now.”
