After Bipartisan Votes in Both Chambers of Congress, Moms Leader Urges President Trump to End Bogus National Emergency

Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and CEO of MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on today’s House of Representatives vote to terminate President Trump’s bogus declaration of a national emergency:

"We applaud the U.S. House of Representatives for joining the U.S. Senate in voting to end President Trump’s politically motivated, bogus declaration of a national emergency today. The votes in both chambers were bipartisan rejections of the President’s reckless use of emergency powers, which he is using to divert funds intended for other purposes to build a wall the country neither wants nor needs, and that will stand forever as a symbol of the hate and division Trump sows.

“We thank every Senator and Representative who stood up for what is right with this vote and urge the President to refrain from vetoing this measure. America’s moms do not want to waste even more of our tax dollars on Trump’s wall and we reject the way he is undermining the checks and balances enshrined in our constitution.”
