“The tax plan House Republicans released today is another dangerous, damaging plan that would undermine the programs working moms and families rely on in order to give even more tax breaks to the wealthiest people and corporations. It is more a scam than a plan – an unconscionable raid on hard-working Americans that will jeopardize essential health care, education, food and nutrition, housing and other essential programs.

"The promises the GOP made when it passed its first tax plan in December have not been realized. Just 4 percent of workers have gotten a one-time bonus or wage hike since the GOP tax plan took effect. The vast majority of the benefits have gone to the top 1 percent of earners. At the same time, workers’ wages have stagnated or declined.

"This new plan would increase the deficit even further and cause grave harm to our nation’s families, communities and economy. It’s unwanted and unnecessary -- polls continue to show that the GOP tax plan passed in December is unpopular among voters.

"It is stunning that the House GOP is pushing its morally bankrupt ideas even further. This is just a dramatic ploy to win over voters in the November elections, but the moms of America won’t fall for it. We need leaders who will concentrate on real solutions to boost working families like job training, paid family and medical leave, quality, affordable childcare, and investments in our health care and nutrition -- not tax giveaways to their wealthy cronies. The moms of America rejected the Trump/GOP tax plan Congress passed earlier this year, and they will strongly oppose this one as well.”
