Statement from Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and CEO of MomsRising, a national online and on-the-ground organization of more than 1 million mothers and their families, on the Trump administration’s new rule to revise the Affordable Care Act’s (ACA’s) Section 1557 in ways that will harm women and people in marginalized communities:
“The rule the Trump administration released this morning is another vile, harmful attempt to sabotage the Health Care Rights Law, sanction and promote discrimination, and allow providers to deny people the health care they need. The ACA’s section 1557 was a groundbreaking rule that protected access to health care for women, members of the LGBTQ community, and others who face gender and other forms of discrimination. It must never be weakened or reversed.
"America’s moms oppose all forms of discrimination in health care. We want to protect the Health Care Rights Law, #PutPatientsFirst and #ProtectTransHealth, and we will fight this outrageous rule. All patients must have access to the health care they need.”
