Biden Is Proposing the Priorities and Investments Moms, Families and the Country Need

Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and CEO of MomsRising, the online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on the Biden-Harris priorities announced this evening:

“America’s moms are thrilled with the priorities and proposed investments President-Elect Biden announced this evening. This is what smart, responsive leadership looks like.

“From pandemic relief to paid leave, jobs to justice, child care to health care to tax credits for working families, education to hunger to housing, safety and relief for incarcerated loved ones, and much more, the Biden-Harris agenda offers hope and promise for a brighter future. We especially applaud President-Elect Biden’s focus on creating a caregiving economy -- something our country has needed for generations. It will unleash economic prosperity that lifts and benefits us all, and prioritize and reward the heroic work of Black, Brown and immigrant women caregivers that has been discriminated against and devalued for much too long.

“This is an incredibly welcome change from the divisive, short-sighted policies America has suffered for four years under Donald Trump’s administration, which further enriched the wealthy and left moms and families sicker and poorer, disproportionately harmed communities of color, and made our country immeasurably weaker.

“Moms will demand that Congress move quickly to enact Biden-Harris policies and proposals, so recovery will finally be in sight.”
