WASHINGTON, D.C. — On Tuesday, April 9, the Care Can’t Wait Action coalition will host a rally with President Joe Biden as well as family caregivers, care workers and early childhood educators, and advocates to celebrate the care champions working to expand access to affordable, quality care for millions and strengthen our nation’s economy and workforce.
At the rally, speakers will join President Biden in celebrating the progress made by care champions while calling for additional legislative action. The event coincides with two historic milestones: The White House’s second proclamation declaring this April “Care Workers Recognition Month” and the one-year anniversary of President Biden signing the Executive Order on Care meant to strengthen paid leave and child, aging and disability care.
As part of its month of action, Care Can’t Wait Action will also host a Congressional Town Hall on Care on April 10 with caregivers, care workers and early childhood educators, parents, and seniors to address the need to pass comprehensive legislation that invests in care, paid family and medical leave, and supports educators and workers. Care Can’t Wait Action will also coordinate a lobby day with lawmakers in both chambers of Congress while hosting nearly a dozen local events celebrating care champions in states like Georgia, North Carolina and Wisconsin throughout April and May.
