It is shameful that child care workers in our country, who do critically important work caring for our youngest children and preparing them to succeed in school, are underappreciated, undervalued, and underpaid.

“Every day is a day without child care for too many parents who can’t find or afford the quality care they need. That has long been a problem, but it has been greatly exacerbated by the pandemic. As a result, moms have been pushed out of the workforce, families are struggling without their income, businesses are without the workers they need, and our economy is struggling. If families, businesses, and our economy are to succeed, we need a system that provides quality, affordable child care to all families and living wages to care workers. We are far from having that today.
