Day Without Child Care: National Day of Action Will Draw Needed Attention to a Crisis that is Harming Families, Businesses and Our Economy

“MomsRising stands with child care providers on the Day Without Child Care today. Care work makes all other work possible. It is shameful that child care workers in our country, who do critically important work caring for our youngest children and preparing them to succeed in school, are underappreciated, undervalued, and underpaid.
“Every day is a day without child care for too many parents who can’t find or afford the quality care they need. That has long been a problem, but it has been greatly exacerbated by the pandemic. As a result, moms have been pushed out of the workforce, families are struggling without their income, businesses are without the workers they need, and our economy is struggling. If families, businesses, and our economy are to succeed, we need a system that provides quality, affordable child care to all families and living wages to care workers. We are far from having that today.
“The solution is very clear: We need lawmakers to invest in childcare and in the kind of care infrastructure almost every other country has. America’s moms and families are counting on Congress to finally make the investments that will stabilize and support our child care system so families, businesses, and our economy can thrive.”
