“Even before his meeting with Democratic congressional leaders today, President Trump resorted to bluster and bullying in his effort to secure funding for a wasteful, unpopular, unnecessary border wall. His threat to shutdown the government if Congress doesn’t waste funds on this monstrosity are unreasonable. Our tax dollars should go to education, health care, job training, housing and other essential services, not to fund the President’s wall or support his callous, indefensible anti-immigration policies.

“President Trump needs to listen to congressional leaders and take a lesson from the election, which was a sound repudiation of his cruel, heartless immigration policies. Voters want their government to provide solutions, not waste precious resources on a wall.

“Our country needs comprehensive, compassionate, respectful immigration policies, not walls and force used against immigrant and asylum-seeking children and families. The moms of America want every member of Congress from both parties to stand up to the President and refuse to fund a wall or to increase funding for inhumane policies and practices that separate and tear gas children and families.”
