Despite Second Disappointing Ruling by Senate Parliamentarian, Moms Want Congress to Create a Pathway to Citizenship for Immigrants This Year

“We are disappointed in the U.S. Senate parliamentarian’s ruling last night - refusing to allow budget reconciliation to be used to update an outdated law from 1986; the U.S. Senate has passed immigration-related provisions in at least five budget reconciliation bills in the past and some were far-reaching. But despite the ruling, the nation is still relying on Congress to pass legislation that provides permanent protections and pathways to citizenship for Dreamers, Temporary Protected Status (TPS) holders, farm workers, and essential workers this year. We are looking for bold leadership that will end the inaction that for much too long has left immigrants living in limbo, in fear of being separated from their families and deported. Despite last night’s ruling from the parliamentarian, America’s moms want Congress to provide immigrants with a pathway to citizenship this year.”
