Lawmakers Join Family Groups for “Best for Babies” Hill Briefing on the Importance of Paid Family & Medical Leave

MomsRising Delivers Storks and Baby Onesies to Members of Congress to Show the Importance of Paid Family Leave on Child Development
WASHINGTON, DC -- Lawmakers will join ZERO TO THREE, MomsRising, and the National Partnership for Women & Families for a forum on “The Child Development Case for Paid Family & Medical Leave” on Wednesday, May 7, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. (ET) in the Capitol Visitor Center. At the forum, co-hosted by Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (NY) and Rep. Rosa DeLauro (CT), both of whom introduced the FAMILY Act of 2013 (S 1810/HR 3712) last December, parents and their babies, along with practitioners, experts and business leaders will have a discussion on how national and paid family leave can help babies and young children during this critical time.

At the same time, members of MomsRising will deliver books containing stories from moms across the country, highlighting the importance of family leave, along with adorable stuffed storks and decorated baby onesies to call attention to the need for family leave.

The FAMILY Act of 2013 (S 1810/HR 3712) would establish a national paid family and medical leave insurance program, ensuring that American workers would no longer have to choose between earning a paycheck and caring for their families.
