Mobile Billboards at Philadelphia Summit This Weekend Will Underscore that America’s Moms Are Appalled By the Moms for Liberty Agenda

MomsRising, the online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, will be circulating mobile billboards outside the Moms for Liberty Summit in Philadelphia this weekend to highlight that the majority of moms in America are not on the same page with its dangerous, extreme agenda. The mobile billboards will circle the Downtown Marriott (at 1201 Market Street) where the Moms for Liberty event is taking place, as well as City Hall, on Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. They say:
“Moms for Liberty has been creating division and pain in schools and communities across the nation, advancing book bans, attacking Black history curricula, stigmatizing and isolating trans and LGBTQIA+ students, censoring lessons on slavery and other parts of our history, and more,” said MomsRising Executive Director and CEO Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner. “It is deeply ironic that they are calling their event a Joyful Warriors Summit. We have every reason to expect it to be a festival of hate and cruelty by an organization with an agenda that polls show most moms rightly want nothing at all to do with.”
“We are especially disturbed that presidential candidates and lawmakers are speaking to this hate group, which has an agenda so extreme that it’s not only embarrassing, but also destructive to our schools, communities, and democracy. Most voters are horrified by both their agenda and their tactics – and the last thing any mom should be doing is promoting bullying, hate, and chaos at our schools and in our communities,” Rowe-Finkbeiner continued.
A national survey of likely women voters conducted in May by Lake Research Partners for MomsRising finds that, across party and demographic lines, mom and women voters strongly disagree with the policies that Moms for Liberty is promoting. In fact, most mom voters think that a few parents should not be able to ban books from school libraries and that schools should be able to provide honest, accurate, age-appropriate history education including slavery and the civil rights movement, as well as medically accurate, unbiased, inclusive and age-appropriate sex education, social and emotional learning, and the inclusion of LGBTQIA+ and transgender students. A memo by Lake Research Partners that reviews and analyzes the results is here.
“The Southern Poverty Law Center was right to designate Moms for Liberty as a hate group,” Rowe-Finkbeiner added. “Polls show, and moms know, that Moms for Liberty is lying when they suggest they represent moms. Their agenda is not moms’ agenda. In fact, moms fully reject the division and hate that Moms for Liberty spreads. The right-wing education agenda is completely out of touch with what moms and women want, which starts with secure access to reproductive health care including abortion, and a care infrastructure with paid family and medical leave for all, affordable child care, and home-based services for seniors and people with disabilities. Their movement is a toxic embarrassment to moms and to our country..”
