Moms Leader: FedEx Decision to End Partnership with NRA a ‘Wise and Responsible Move’
Lisa Lederer, 202-371-1996
“FedEx made a wise and responsible move by ending its practice of giving discounts to National Rifle Association (NRA) members last week. That partnership was tantamount to an endorsement of the NRA’s appalling agenda and gave NRA leaders a marketing tool to entice people to join and support its work.
“The NRA floods our communities with firearms and fosters a ‘guns everywhere’ culture. More than 300 million guns are in circulation in the United States and 100,000 Americans are injured or killed with guns every year. FedEx should never have helped build the NRA’s membership and advance its lethal agenda. We are pleased that the company has reversed course by pulling out of the NRA’s Business Alliance.
“Tens of thousands of MomsRising members signed a petition demanding that FedEx stop supporting the NRA. MomsRising organized that petition in partnership with Guns Down, Campaign to Unload, Color of Change, Coalition to Stop Gun Violence, Media Matters for America, Newtown Action Alliance, One Pulse, Pride Fund To End Gun Violence and States United to Prevent Gun Violence. We are grateful that, at last, FedEx leaders heard our voices and chose a more responsible course.”
