Moms Tell U.S. Senators: Protect Students, Strengthen Schools, and Reject McMahon as U.S. Secretary of Education
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
“America’s moms want a U.S. Secretary of Education with an unshakable commitment to protect all students and set them up to succeed by making our schools stronger and more effective. Business leaders want that too, because our economy depends on having a well-educated workforce now and in the future. Linda McMahon, President Trump’s nominee to serve as U.S. Secretary of Education, has a very different agenda. McMahon supports Trump’s extremist policies, which will divert needed education funding to private schools, make class sizes larger, create more schools without books and equipment, and undermine protections for students with disabilities, students of color, and those who are LGBTQIA+.
“It was excruciatingly clear at her confirmation hearing that McMahon is unqualified for this post. We simply cannot trust her to keep our children safe at school and give them every chance to thrive. The fact that she supports dismantling, defunding, and eliminating the U.S. Department of Education is proof positive that she lacks the qualifications, experience and judgment to manage our country’s education system. Moms want their U.S. Senators to refuse to confirm Linda McMahon.”
