Moms Urge Congress to Quickly Pass Bill to Lower Prices for More Prescription Medications
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
“The drug pricing provisions in the Inflation Reduction Act offer enormous and badly needed benefits that will improve the health and economic security of moms and families. But it is only the beginning of what we need to prevent moms from being forced to ration or go without the medications they need when a child has diabetes, a parent has cancer, or another family member falls ill. We need Congress to pass the Lowering Drug Costs for American Families Act to continue the progress.
“This critically important legislation would increase the number of drugs that Medicare negotiates prices on, help prevent drug prices from rising faster than inflation, and expand the savings from the Medicare program’s negotiation to people with private insurance coverage. In doing all that, it would help protect moms and families from Big Pharma’s appalling price gouging, which is long overdue.
“America’s moms thank Energy and Commerce Committee Ranking Member Frank Pallone, Jr. (D-NJ), Ways and Means Committee Ranking Member Richard E. Neal (D-MA), and Education and the Workforce Committee Ranking Member Bobby Scott (D-VA) for introducing and championing this bill. We urge every member of Congress to support it. It’s long past time we prioritize our health by making the medications we need more affordable for all of us, regardless of the source of our health insurance coverage.”
