Moms Welcome Biden Administration Move to Expand Access to Health Coverage for DACA Recipients

“America’s moms cheer the Biden administration’s move to make health coverage through Medicaid, CHIP, and the Affordable Care Act (ACA) marketplace available to our country’s nearly 600,000 DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) recipients. DACA provides protections for hundreds of thousands of young people brought to this country as children, making it the only home most have ever really known. But until now, this community – our doctors, nurses, teachers, child care and construction workers, neighbors and friends – have been excluded from the potentially lifesaving, affordable care that coverage through these government programs makes possible. It is very good news that is about to change.
“Now, Congress must take the next step – supported by an overwhelming majority of voters – by creating a pathway to citizenship for DACA recipients, so they can plan secure futures. That is long overdue.”
