MomsRising Launches Multi-Faceted Drive to Turn Out the Moms Vote This Year

Be a Voter, Raise a Voter

MomsRising is running a multi-faceted voter education and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) drive to turn out mom voters on November 8. Already underway, MomsRising’s outreach will be focused on Alaska, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Jersey, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. It includes:

  • Nearly a million handwritten mom-to-mom postcards with messages reminding infrequent mom voters to vote this year.

  • Direct mail to more than 800,000 moms who are infrequent voters with voting information and fun activities to do with kids while you vote.

  • Micro-targeted digital ads reaching over a million infrequent mom voters with the information they need to vote.

  • Combined volunteer and paid texting and phone calls, reaching more than a million moms.

  • A pilot program to reach Latina voters through What’s App, with a bot being created to help Latinas register, learn about issues, find their polling places, and get to the polls.

  • Beacon of Hope organizing locally in 16 states. And in NH, FL, NC, and PA, MomsRising volunteers will have “Treasure Boxes” near the polls with small toys and stickers for children in English and Spanish that say: My mom is a superhero. She voted!

“Moms are a powerful political force and we’re fired up to vote this year,” said MomsRising Executive Director and CEO Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner. “Women have been registering to vote in record numbers, and we’re doing a massive amount of work to turn them out.”

MomsRising contracted with Lake Research to conduct quantitative and qualitative research to more fully understand the attitudes of voters, and specifically moms and caregivers, when it comes to the upcoming elections. Findings from that research are here.

MomsRising pioneered the “Be a Voter, Raise a Voter” MomsVote program in 2018. The multi-layered GOTV program aimed at infrequent Mom Voters has a strong history of success.
