Statement of Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner on Senator Frank Lautenberg's Passing
"The nation lost a great and highly effective champion for working mothers and for children when New Jersey Senator Frank Lautenberg passed away today. Senator Lautenberg supported the entire MomsRising agenda, from paid sick days to protections from toxins to gun safety to fair pay. He cared about what families care about; their agenda was his agenda.
"Senator Lautenberg worked tirelessly throughout his career for children’s safety. From raising the drinking age to prohibiting smoking on airplanes to protecting children from unsafe chemicals, he was a dedicated leader and a standard-bearer.
"He had a major and lasting impact on the Congress and the country. Without question, the nation is poorer for his passing. Senator Lautenberg’s proud legacy is a country that is more fair, safe and progressive."
