MomsRising Hails Announcement of Proposed Power Plant Rule as “Bold Step” In Protecting Health of Children, Families, Communities
“MomsRising and our more than one million members across the country applaud and strongly support the proposed rule to reduce power plant emissions. This regulation will improve the health of our children, our families and our communities. Communities across the nation are feeling the negative impacts of carbon pollution, ranging from devastating extreme weather events to air that is unsafe to breathe, resulting in asthma and other respiratory complications.
“Today’s announcement is especially good news for our low income families and communities of color, which are disproportionately harmed by the environmental and health effects of climate change. Our nation has a moral obligation to all our children and to all affected communities to take action and reduce carbon pollution.
“MomsRising, and moms and their families across the country, stand with the President and the EPA to support this bold step to address a problem that has been putting our health and communities at risk. Not only will strong limits on carbon pollution protect our health and address climate change, they will also spur innovation in clean energy generation and energy efficiency that will power America in the 21st century.”
