Territorial Sundial on the Capital Campus:
Center of the circle between O'Brien and Cherberg buildings on the west campus; The O'Brien building is located at 504 15th Ave SW
MomsRising members from across the country have decorated and sent onesies to show their support for the Family Leave Insurance bill which has passed the Washington State Senate and is under consideration in the House.
Speakers at the event will include:
- Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, Executive Director, MomsRising
- Senator Lisa Brown
- Senator Karen Keiser
- Representative Mary Lou Dickerson
- Yvonne Zick, MomsRising Member
Senator Keiser is the primary sponsor of the legislation in the state Senate. Representative Dickerson introduced the bill in the state House. Yvonne Zick and her husband, Ken, have committed to wearing MomsRising t-shirts until the legislation passes. They began on January 1 of this year.
This is the first event in MomsRising’s national “Power of ONEsie” campaign. Each onesie represents hundreds of people across the nation who care deeply about building a family-friendly America and support family-friendly policies. The next ONEsie event will be in New Hampshire at the first Presidential debate, to help put family issues on the agenda for the 2007 Presidential campaigns.
