The 'Right and Just' Move: Moms Applaud Restoration of Temporary Protected Status to Immigrants from Haiti

“The Biden-Harris administration made the right and just decision by re-designating Haiti for Temporary Protected Status (TPS) this weekend. America’s moms support this action because we are determined that our Haitian neighbors, friends and colleagues be allowed to remain with their families and in their jobs, especially at this time when it is clearly not safe for them to return to Haiti.
“Moms recognize that immigrants are frontline and essential workers who are essential to our recovery from the pandemic, and who make our communities, our economy, and our country immeasurably stronger. That is why we are urging the administration to provide TPS for Cameroon, Mauritania, Somalia, El Salvador, Honduras, Nicaragua, Sudan, Nepal and Guatemala as well, while halting continued deportations to these countries and ending Title 42. And it is why we are demanding the U.S. Senate finally pass the Dream and Promise Act, to create permanent protections and a new path to citizenship for Dreamers and TPS-holders, the Farm Workforce Modernization Act, to give farmworkers and their families a long-overdue opportunity to earn legal immigration, and the Citizenship for Essential Workers Act.
“This weekend’s action is just one step in ending the racism and brutality that became the hallmark of our immigration system under President Trump, and restoring the fairness, compassion and integrity our country wants. Completing the work to create a humane, functional immigration and asylum system, and to treat all immigrants with compassion, dignity and respect, must be a national priority.”
