MomsRising.org to Deliver Lifesavers to State Legislators to Advocate for Expanding Health Care Coverage for California Kids
California moms are urging state lawmakers to take advantage of health care funds that the U.S. Congress and President Obama have given the state to ensure that more children get health care coverage. MomsRising.org, the online grassroots organization for moms and everyone who has a mom, will deliver candy lifesavers with messages from thousands of members across the state to California legislators, encouraging them to act soon to secure all available funds for California kids:
12 PM, Tuesday, March 31
North side of the State Capitol Building (on L Street)
Sacramento
Volunteers will deliver more than 1,500 lifesavers and messages to legislators, including:
My daughter was born with a rare genetic condition that makes private health insurance out of our reach. Please don't leave her and the rest of CA kids high and dry!
Candy is dandy but health care is a lifesaver! Healthy kids mean better school attendance and improved life skills, a chance to get ahead and be productive workforce members. that means more taxes paid to fund our economy. Parents with healthy kids do not have to take off work to help them!!
You can-dy-liver Health Care for our kids!
MomsRising.org is delivering these “sweet” messages to let lawmakers know that covering uninsured kids is a priority for California families. As the economic crisis deepens, thousands of parents find themselves turning to state-funded health care programs like California’s Healthy Families. Programs like these, which are more affordable FOR FAMILIES, can be a real lifesaver for children who have no other way to get medical coverage. Approximately 683,000 children in California are uninsured.
MomsRising.org Campaign Directors Ashley Boyd and Anita Jackson will on-site at the State Capitol to discuss the campaign.
