Threats of ICE Raids Targeting Immigrant Families, as Early as Sunday, Are Terrifying Children, Panicking Parents, and Causing Unnecessary Fear in Our Communities, Moms Leader Charges

“It is the shame of our nation that immigrant families across the country are living in fear of being separated due to the raids, mass arrests, and deportations President Trump is threatening. With rumors circulating that these heartless raids could begin this weekend -- and reports that ICE agents will ‘specifically target adults with children’ -- children are terrified, parents panicked, and communities are experiencing unnecessary fear and chaos. President Trump’s immigration policies are cruel and racist and must end now.
“Our country’s focus should be on ending the cruelty and suffering caused by the human rights abuses we are committing against the children and families who have been detained at the border – not putting more people who are living peacefully and contributing to their communities in cages and camps.
“America’s moms unequivocally reject President Trump’s racist, xenophobic hate- and fear-mongering and his callous immigration policies.
"His tactics are repugnant. If they happen, these raids will result in more family separations, more children at grave risk, and more damage to our communities and our economy.
“The looming raids and deportations are another attempt by the President to divide us, and to divert attention from all he is doing to further enrich the wealthy while cutting the programs working families need. We demand that the separation of families stop, that every child be reunited with a mom or family member, and that our government prioritize the health, safety and human rights of all immigrant and migrant families. We urge Congress, governors and mayors to take every step possible to prevent the atrocities Trump threatens. Immigration has always made America stronger and more prosperous. Let’s recognize that, respect the rights of all families, and demonstrate compassion, dignity and respect.”
