Following Protest at Connecticut Wal-Mart, Progressive Groups Escalate Call for Common Sense Gun Regulations
WASHINGTON, DC - In the past few days, Wal-Mart has been flooded with hundreds of calls from concerned citizens, and Facebook posts by thousands of Americans urging the retailer to stand up for common sense gun regulations and stop selling assault weapons and ammunition in their stores. The intensifying action comes after a rally and the delivery of more than 300,000 signatures to a Wal-Mart store in Danbury, Connecticut on Tuesday, January 15, at which gun violence survivors were joined by progressive organizations and consumer watchdogs in demanding that the retailer take action.
Since the petition delivery on Tuesday, more than 10,000 people have taken to Walmart’s Facebook page to register their concern and urge Wal-Mart executives to honor their 2004 pledge and stop selling assault weapons and ammunition.
