With Our Democracy at Stake, U.S. Senate Must Follow U.S. House’s Lead in Passing John Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Bill
Lisa Lederer, 202/371-1996
“Today the U.S. House of Representatives took a hugely important step to protect every American’s right to vote and secure our democracy by passing H.R. 4, the John R. Lewis Voting Rights Advancement Act. This bill restores and modernizes the Voting Rights Act, protecting our freedom to vote, and helping ensure elections are safe and accessible.
“In recent years, we have faced unprecedented threats to our democracy, both from within our country and from abroad. The lies and disinformation have been horrifying and demand a strong response. Moms want every community and every eligible voter to have easy access to the ballot and for all our votes to count. We are counting on Congress and the Biden administration to ensure that happens. Enactment of the John Lewis Voting Right Act is essential to achieving that goal.”
