Washington State Moms Launch 'Operation Lunch Bag'

Moms Deliver Messages On First Day of Legislative Session Reminding Legislators to Keep Kids at Top of The Agenda
On the first day of school many moms across the country slip a little note into their child's lunch. This year, Washington moms are going to slip a little note into the lunch bags of Washington legislators when the session begins. Those moms will deliver lunch bags and messages from families across the state urging legislators to remember kids and families during these tough economic times.
 
Organized by MomsRising – the online and on-the-ground grassroots organization for moms and everyone who has a mom – moms, dads, kids and others will meet to deliver the "Welcome to the 2011 Legislative Session" lunch bags and messages at:

The lunch sack notes will remind legislators that in a tough economy kids matter more than ever, and that family-friendly policies like early learning (childcare, preschool, kindergarten) benefit everyone in Washington.
 
This session, legislators are expected to consider budget cuts that could leave 4,000 working Washington families suddenly without child care, eliminate affordable, quality preschool for at-risk three-year-olds and slash Maternity Support Services for Washington women.
