Moms Pledge to Remind Fellow Moms to Make Plans to Vote Tuesday
WASHINGTON, DC – In the final days of the 2012 Presidential Campaign, MomsRising, a grassroots community of more than a million moms working to achieve economic security for all families, will be conducting a massive Get Out The Vote phone banking initiative, with a particular focus on moms who are members of groups that have a history of low voter turnout.

“Moms are a powerful force and are poised to help determine the outcome of elections across the nation. To make sure that moms are using their full political power, MomsRising members are reaching out to busy moms across the country to remind people to make a plan to vote on Tuesday. Moms who, just like them, are worried about the economic security of their families and of the nation,” said Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, co-founder and executive director of MomsRising. “Hundreds of thousands of women are registered to vote in this election, but many of them may not get to the polls without an extra nudge, or a reminder to make a plan to fit voting into their schedules. We’re dedicated to making a difference this election by inspiring other moms to vote.”
MomsRising will be focusing their calls in 10 states: CA, CO, FL, IL, NV, NY, OH, PA, TX, WA. These states were selected because they either have the highest MomsRising memberships per capita, or because they have experienced significant voter suppression campaigns aimed at moms and others. MomsRising has set up a simple, easy online phone banking system so that its members can is urging its members to phone bank from wherever they are, whenever they can.
