December 8, 2014
Lisa Lederer, 202-371-1996
Members of MomsRising.org – the online and on-the-ground organization for moms and everyone who has a mom – will present a gigantic "thank you" card, signed by hundreds of moms from around Pittsburgh, to Mayor William Peduto’s office to thank him for his dedication to children’s health:
9:30am -11:30am, Tuesday, December 9
Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
(Large Party Room)
10 Children’s Way
Allegheny Square, Pittsburgh, PA 15212
Peduto is leading Pittsburgh’s launch of the Healthy Together campaign, which will enroll eligible children and families into Medicaid and the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP). More than 8,000 children in Allegheny County alone are uninsured. The enrollment program, funded by the National League of Cities, is focused on approximately 2,000 uninsured children living in the city of Pittsburgh.
Local MomsRising members and their children will be on hand during the delivery, as well as experts on CHIP and children’s health, and representatives from the Mayor's office. The children will be creating “super-healthy super kids” capes during their time at the museum.
