Moms Group Calls on Presidential Candidates to Stop the Hateful Rhetoric

MomsRising Stands Behind Planned Parenthood, #BlackLivesMatter; Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, CEO and Executive Director of MomsRising, released the following statement:
“As mothers, we are extremely concerned about the tenor of the Presidential election so far. Tragically, some candidates are inflaming passions against those who provide reproductive health services to women, against community leaders who organize for justice and an end to police brutality, and against immigrants and refugees. We are a better nation than this and the tragedies in Colorado Springs and Minneapolis are the foreseeable result of toxic speech, as well as of unchecked long-standing and historic anti-black racism, sexism and discrimination, combined with all too easy access to guns.
 
We stand with Planned Parenthood, #BlackLivesMatter, and the immigrant and refugee families who are in desperate need for safety. And we also stand for a nation where candidates discuss the challenges of our families and propose real solutions, rather than scapegoats in order to win votes.
 
Our children deserve better than this. Our nation deserves better than this.”
