In response to the New Hampshire House vote in favor of House Bill 628 to create a paid family and medical leave program for New Hampshire, Christina D’Allesandro, New Hampshire MomsForce Director for MomsRising, released the following statement
“With today’s vote, New Hampshire is one step closer to strengthening families and making our state’s economy more competitive. Whether it’s taking time to care for a new child, a sick family member, or even a loved one struggling with addiction, being there for families is what matters. Yet, far too many Granite Staters are still forced to make the impossible decision between earning a paycheck and taking care of a loved one or themselves.
“We applaud the legislators who voted today to strengthen our families, and our state’s economy. This is an important first step. Lawmakers should not let this progress stall-- we are committed to working with elected officials in Concord to make sure New Hampshire ultimately passes a comprehensive paid leave policy that takes the strain off of an individual business, and recognizes that life happens for the people who work there.”
