Moms Leader Denounces Trump Plan to Block and Violate the Human Rights of Asylum Seekers

Statement from Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, CEO and executive director of MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on the President’s remarks yesterday evening on asylum-seekers heading for the United States:

“President Trump doubled down on his immoral anti-immigrant actions late yesterday with a promise to illegally block asylum-seekers, violate their human rights by jailing families for extended periods of time, and increase the military presence at the border to 15,000 troops. It is appalling that the President seems to be making policy and allocating resources based on the dishonest scare tactics he uses for political gain. The moms of America – and all fair-minded, reasonable people – will oppose the executive order he described today and plans to issue next week because it defies our country’s laws and values. The immigrant-bashing, dishonesty, complete lack of compassion for children and families who are suffering, and outrageous violations of basic human rights must end.”
