House Vote for Impeachment Resolution Was 'Right and Only Reasonable Way Forward,' Moms Leader Says, Noting Mounting Evidence of Abuse of Power

Statement from Kristin Rowe-Finkbeiner, executive director and CEO of MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families, on the vote in the House of Representatives to adopt the impeachment resolution:

“The mounting evidence that President Trump abused his power in his dealings with Ukraine’s president is deeply disturbing and made passage of the impeachment inquiry resolution in the House of Representatives the only right and reasonable way forward. It is hard to understand how any lawmaker who values our democracy and the rule of law could vote against it.

“America’s moms want all our lawmakers to put patriotism over partisanship. The allegations against President Trump have enormous gravity because they threaten the integrity and security of our elections, our ability to have confidence in them, and the foundation of our democracy. America’s elections belong to America’s voters, and no foreign government should ever play any role in determining the outcome. 

“We deserve the truth. We deserve elections that are free and fair. We deserve to not only have  a strong democracy now, but also the chance to build a strong democracy for our children. We deserve a President who will fight foreign influence in our elections—not invite it—and who will put the country’s interests ahead of his or her own. 

“Moms support a full and fair investigation that exposes the truth, and full accountability for our leaders. We commend every representative who voted to proceed with the impeachment inquiry this morning.”
