‘ICE must immediately release all families together,’ Moms Leaders Say About Families Being Detained in Immigration Detention Centers.

Statement of leaders of MomsRising, an online and on-the-ground organization of more than one million mothers and their families.

“As moms, we cannot imagine having to choose between staying together in detention where COVID is raging or separating our families in order for our children to be safe. ICE must immediately release all families together. There is no one better suited to care for their child than a loving parent. Detaining children and families is traumatizing, heartless and extraordinarily dangerous in the face of COVID -19.

“Mothers have repeatedly spoken out about medical neglect inside these facilities.  Lives continue to be put at risk at the hands of the Trump administration’s anti-immigrant agenda.”

“Hundreds of detained children’s lives are being put in danger and ICE now has a deadline to decide whether they will force parents to choose between protecting their children’s health and having their families together. This is no choice at all. Confirmation of COVID-19 inside family detention centers means the risk for families continues to spike.
