It’s hard to believe the election is just a few days away. After months of ads, speeches, debates and campaign rallies, it seems that many of the issues that mothers and families really care about have gotten lost in all the noise. Tuesday is an important day for mothers across the country to make...

Connecticut is beginning work to develop a Family and Medical leave insurance program that can provide much needed relief to families and businesses. Employees get sick, aging parents need assistance, and families want to spend time with their newborns. We can learn a lot from the experiences of California and New Jersey as we make plans in Connecticut.

The hottest summer on record, Midwest tornadoes and floods, out-of-control forest fires. And this after a summer hurricane (Irene) and freak ice storm on Halloween 2011 had crippled my...

This election season is extracting an enormous toll from candidates and citizens alike. Pressure is always intense in a Presidential year, but this year is different. Airwaves and Internet hammer away with news of poll after poll, minute campaign details and endless tit for tat. The presidential...

If there is a major reason I am voting this election cycle it is this: the Affordable Care Act. My mother-in-law relies on my husband and I as her primary caregivers. And thanks to health care reform, our family is saving thousands of dollars a year in prescription drug costs for her. For working...

I am committed to voting this November so my daughter continues to have the healthy future she deserves. My daughter, Gracie, was born at 26 weeks for reasons that are unknown. She was just 2 lbs and 6 oz and 13.5 inches long. She stayed in the NICU for the first 68 days of her life while she...
