I Am Voting For My Health Care Security
As I vote in the election this November, maintaining my health care coverage is one of my top concerns.
When I was 19-years-old, I was diagnosed with liver disease. It was caused by a birth defect. After having major surgery, I have been fine but need regular monitoring by liver specialists to maintain my health.
I am 23-years-old now and am lucky enough to be covered by my parents’ insurance for a while longer. And another critical protection as part of the Affordable Care Act means that, starting in 2014, health insurance companies cannot deny me coverage based on my pre-existing condition nor refuse to pay for my treatment after I have reached a "lifetime maximum" of care.
Liver disease never disappears, and health insurance is of the utmost importance to me. This November, I am voting to maintain my health care security.
