“But you said you would!”
I hear it from my son all. the. time. He holds me to each and every little commitment—whether or not I even recall making it :)
It’s important to keep your word. It’s especially important when you’re the leader of a state with 500,000 uninsured adults.
Today, MomsRising is participating in a statewide Day of Action calling on Governor McCrory to keep his word. The Governor specifically said that he was going to move forward with a plan to extend health coverage to uninsured adults in our state after the Supreme Court issued its decision on the Affordable Care Act last month.
It’s time for the Governor to make good on his word! Call Governor McCrory’s office now to ask him to be a leader for our state and present a plan to extend Medicaid coverage to hard-working, uninsured North Carolinians. Just dial 1-855-976-1858 and we’ll connect you automatically!
When you dial the number above, we’ll give you a short suggestion on what you can say and then connect you automatically to Governor McCrory’s office. Letting the Governor know that moms and dads in North Carolina support him being a leader for extending health coverage to uninsured adults can make a big difference! Even with push back from legislators, Governors in other states have been able to move expansion of healthcare forward by leading with a plan.
Tragically, it’s estimated that over 1,000 North Carolinians will die each year as a result of not having health insurance. Lives are quite literally on the line, while Governor McCrory and our state lawmakers are playing politics. Meanwhile, time is running out for some uninsured people.
We are asking Governor McCrory #WheresThePlan for extending health coverage to low-income North Carolinians who are uninsured.
Make your call now! 1-855-976-1858
We all have a stake in making health coverage more accessible! A recent economic analysis found that if lawmakers act to expand Medicaid right away, North Carolina will generate $1 billion in related tax revenue and create 43,000 jobs through 2020. In addition, closing the coverage gap would save the state budget more than $300 million in that same time frame. The money has already been set aside for us, all our state has to do is bring our tax dollars home to help half a million North Carolinians get health insurance.
Most of the North Carolinians who would be Medicaid-eligible if our state were to expand the program are adults who are employed and work in retail, food preparation, hospitality, service industries, and agriculture. North Carolina’s economy relies heavily on these individuals and they deserve to have access to the preventative care they need and to be able to see a doctor when they get sick.
In addition to calling Governor McCrory, there are a number of other ways to participate in our statewide day of action: http://www.momsrising.org/blog/nc-medicaid-expansion-coalition-day-of-action
