ASAP is an initiative of ChildObesity180, an organization established in 2009 to reverse the trend of childhood obesity in a generation’s time. ChildObesity180 is working to implement a diverse portfolio of initiatives by using a strategic, coordinated, and evidence-based approach that improves the health and well-being of U.S. children in meaningful and lasting ways. The initiatives include the Active Schools Acceleration Project, Healthy Kids Out of School, a Breakfast Initiative, and a Restaurant Initiative.

Up until a year ago, Kara Lubin and Kathleen Tullie did not know one another. Yet these two moms share curiously similar stories. Both women held close ties to the schools in their communities, Kara as a special education teacher at Washington Elementary in Corona, CA and Kathleen as mom of two children at Memorial Elementary in Natick, MA.
