I am a community organizer and a passionate advocate for families whose children have special needs or medical conditions. I have a degree in Economics and also studied Community Development. I am the mother of premature twins diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. Part of my time is dedicated to being a member of NC Child’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC). I participated in the development of the Poder y Esperanza support group in Union County for parents of children with special needs and contributed to other support groups in other counties. I also participate in activities to encourage the Hispanic community; I am a Spanish-speaking Parent Educator at the Exceptional Children's Assistance Center (ECAC), and I am a Parent Advocate at the Union County Local Interagency Coordinating Council (LICC). I do this to be able to increase my knowledge and share my personal history to help, motivate and give hope to the Hispanic community to navigate services - especially to families facing a diagnosis.
