Statement “Governor Hogan’s veto of the Healthy Working Families Act is a huge disappointment and a betrayal of Maryland’s working families, and of the legislators in both the state House and Senate who passed it.

Statement “This Mother's Day month, it's time to get real: We live in a country that often claims to worship mothers but, in truth, becoming a mother puts women at a tremendous lifelong economic risk. In fact, being a mom is now a greater predictor of wage and hiring discrimination than being a woman.

Statement “Food. Health Care. Housing. Education. Air that is breathable and water that is safe to drink. The budget proposal the Trump administration released today would put all that in jeopardy in order to pay for huge tax cuts for billionaires and big corporations. This budget would jeopardize the health care, nutrition and education of our children, families and aging parents.
“Quite simply, this budget would devastate our economy and our families.

Statement “While we are heartened by reports that President Trump’s budget recognizes the need for paid family and medical leave, which is, indeed, an urgent priority – the administration’s approach is not only terribly flawed, but also is coming at the same time Trump is proposing massive cuts to the programs that lift families the most.

Statement “Today, Washington Governor Jay Inslee signed the Healthy Starts Act into law – a huge win for the health and wellness of mothers and babies in the state. This bill, which passed with unanimous support in both the State House and Senate, extends reasonable workplace accommodations to pregnant workers and makes big strides in breastfeeding support and maternal and infant health practices.

News release Today, ahead of Mother’s Day weekend, moms are leading a parade of advocates and volunteers to deliver thousands of Statue of Liberty figures to President Donald Trump, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and to every member of the U.S. Senate to remind them that our diversity — and people caring about each other — is what has made our nation strong, innovative and prosperous; not the opposite.

Statement “We are extremely pleased that the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act was reintroduced in Congress today with bipartisan support. Its passage should be a high priority for leaders in both the House and Senate. This bill would help pregnant workers stay at their jobs without sacrificing the health of their pregnancies. It is common-sense, badly needed legislation that would go a long way in ensuring that pregnant workers receive reasonable accommodations on the job as needed.

News release WASHINGTON, DC -- On Friday, May 12th, ahead of Mother's Day, members of MomsRising and other groups will deliver thousands of Statue of Liberty figures to President Donald Trump, U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions and every member of the U.S. Senate. Moms will be standing up for liberty and justice as they remind leaders: Our diversity — and people caring about each other — are what has made our nation strong, innovative and prosperous; not the opposite. Yet right now the rights of immigrant families and Muslims are under direct attack — as is our access to health care.
