Statement “America’s moms and families have renewed hope due to passage of the Inflation Reduction Act by the U.S. Senate. It will make significant, long-overdue progress to reduce the cost of health coverage and prescription drugs, make our tax code more fair by finally making wealthy corporations pay their fair share, lower energy costs, and help address the climate emergency.

Statement “In charging four current and former Louisville police officers with violating Breonna Taylor’s civil rights, the U.S. Department of Justice yesterday offered hope for long-delayed accountability for her tragic, disgraceful murder by police. Taylor was the victim of an illegal, no-knock drug raid on her home. She was shot eight times while she lay in her bed. The person the police claimed to be looking for had already been arrested and did not live there. It is worth saying that Breonna was not a suspect and had not committed a crime.

News release “Yesterday in Kansas, Democrats, Independents and Republicans, and people of all genders came together in record numbers to reject anti-abortion extremism and the dangerous post-Roe world the U.S. Supreme Court has created. The Dobbs ruling and the state abortion bans and restrictions it allows have already created immense suffering and chaos across the country, with low-income women and moms, women of color, young, rural and immigrant women, people with disabilities, and those who are LGBTQ+ suffering the most.

Statement “It’s been a long, arduous journey to the budget reconciliation bill announced late yesterday. While America’s moms and families celebrate the measures that will reduce prescription drug costs, continue Affordable Care Act premium subsidies for three more years, make our tax code more fair, and take some key steps to address the climate emergency, one thing has been constant throughout many months of this debate: Lawmakers have pushed aside, deprioritized, and ignored the urgent care-related needs that moms and families face and that our economy desperately needs.

Statement “America’s moms want lawmakers to stop using the immigration issue to score political points, stop refusing to adopt solutions, and begin taking constructive steps that will make our communities, our economy and our country stronger. The Renewing Immigration Provisions of the Immigration Act of 1929, introduced in the U.S. House of Representatives today by Zoe Lofgren (D-CA), Norma Torres (D-CA), Grace Meng (D-NY), Adriano Espaillait (D-NY), Lou Correa (D-CA), and Jesus “Chuy” Garcia (D-IL), would do just that.

Statement “The Women’s Health Protection Act and the Ensuring Access to Abortion Act are essential legislation that will protect health and save lives in the dangerous post-Roe world the U.S. Supreme Court has created.

Statement “The U.S. Supreme Court ruling in Biden v. Texas will bring us one step closer to ending  the appalling humanitarian disaster President Trump’s Remain in Mexico policy created. It affirms the Biden administration’s authority to implement more humane immigration policies. We have never needed that more than we do now. Remain in Mexico and Title 42 are racist policies that continue to create chaos and unimaginably dangerous journeys for asylum seekers.

Statement “The deaths in San Antonio Monday were tragic, heartbreaking, and also completely avoidable. They follow the tragic deaths of 11 Haitian asylum-seekers at sea, and many other lives lost that have not been reported in the news. These deaths result from cruel, failed policies the Trump administration created – Remain in Mexico and Title 42, in particular – that remain in place because of Republican-led lawsuits.
