America Is Safer and Stronger, and Our Futures are Brighter, Because the American Rescue Plan Is Law

“America’s moms thank President Biden, Vice President Harris, and every lawmaker who fought so hard for the American Rescue Plan. Each time a family goes to a grocery store instead of a food bank, each time a school reopens safely, each time a family can keep the heat on instead of shivering through the winter, we will know the American Rescue Plan is working. Every time a mom is able to re-enter the workforce, the American Rescue Plan is kicking in.
“One year after the pandemic was officially declared, enactment of this historic measure gives us hope. America’s moms love the historic investment that will help stabilize our childcare system, and the funds to help safely reopen schools. We love the fact that vaccines will be more readily available in an equitable way, especially for vulnerable communities and communities of color. We love the direct support to families, including immigrant families, and to all those facing hunger and teetering on the brink of homelessness. We love the revisions to our tax code, including the Child Tax Credit, that will pull half of children out of poverty and make our tax system work better for low-income families. We love that lower premiums will make health coverage affordable for more families. We love the expanded unemployment insurance, food assistance, and money that will prevent cities and counties from having to terminate firefighters, public health workers, teachers and others just when we need them most. We love that maternal health can improve because states will be able to expand postpartum Medicaid coverage to 12 months.
“Importantly, we love that, after 50 days in office, President Biden is signing a measure that will deliver the support and resources moms and families have been crying out for, for more than a year. And we pledge to continue the work. We will work tirelessly to put paid leave in place for everyone, always; raise the minimum wage; close the wage gap; create a path to citizenship for immigrants; build a permanent childcare infrastructure that works for everyone; invest in communities in ways that don’t continue the rampant criminalization experienced disproportionately by communities of color, which includes reimagining community safety through police reform and accountability measures and decriminalizing the institutions that serve our children, including schools; advance maternal health; and make permanent the improvements to the Earned Income Tax Credit and the Child Tax Credit. We will continue working until everyone in America can thrive.”
