The Inside Scoop: Right now, our outdated chemicals policy leaves us and our kids exposed to toxic chemicals linked to cancer, birth defects, asthma, & other serious illnesses. Our current chemicals legislation, the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA), has not been updated since 1976. Back then, we didn’t know as much as we do now about how toxic chemicals can migrate from the materials and products in which they’re used – including furniture, plastics, and food cans – into our bodies. These policies need to be updated! Moms have enough to think about without having to also worry about toxic chemicals in our homes, drinking water, and environment. [1] [2]
Your voice is needed to counter the lobbying of the chemical industry. In fact, the chemical industry is spending millions of dollars lobbying Congress to block a meaningful update to TSCA. In the last few months alone, they have spent over $2.7 million dollars on ads in places like Pennsylvania, Texas and Alaska. [3]
*Help the moms and kids on the Hill in D.C. today by sending a quick message via this link to counter the corporate chemical lobbyists and urge our elected leaders to support comprehensive chemicals reform NOW.

Being a parent is a tough job already. Moms and dads shouldn't need a degree in chemistry to pick safe toys and safe food for our children. That’s why we need comprehensive chemical reform today.
Parents are not alone in this fight for chemical reform. Powerful voices in the health world are also speaking up for an overhaul of the Toxic Substances Control Act, including the American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Medical Association, the American Public Health Association, and the American Nurses Association.(4) (5) They know that our broken chemical screening system puts our families at risk for cancer, learning disabilities, infertility, and more. And we know that when the health of our kids is at stake, there’s nothing we won’t do to keep them safe.
*Tell your Senators to look out for moms on the Hill today, and show them that thousands of Americans want common sense limits on toxic chemicals by clicking this link now. (It takes less than a minute to send a quick note using our easy system, but has a long lasting impact!)
