Who would take healthcare away from low-income kids?
When I was an unemployed single mom, attempting to start a business, CHIP (Children’s Health Insurance Program) covered medical care for my young daughter, who was diagnosed with frightening febrile seizures at 19 months.
CHIP made a world of difference in our time of need. Without it, I’d be facing gut-wrenching decisions about medical care and worrying constantly about bankruptcy.
Yet lurking in Congress and in state houses across America is a growing movement to gut healthcare wins like CHIP and the Affordable Care Act that we’ve fought decades to secure.
Nope. No way. Not on my watch will politicians use my daughter’s health as a political football.
To encourage your generosity today, another MomsRising donor will boost your gift by $25!
Since CHIP was established 17 years ago, it has helped reduce the number of uninsured children by an astounding 50 percent. It’s an economic lifeline that provides peace of mind for millions of working families, including mine.
Together we are a powerful force. For example, MomsRising gave me the opportunity to tell my story and bring the concerns of working moms and families directly to President Obama to help defend CHIPand the Affordable Care Act! Together with moms and dads just like you—through sharing each of our stories, signing petitions, sending letters, making calls, attending meetings, and more—we made a difference in the battle for CHIP, and won a crucial Congressional vote for this program this year!
But the attacks continue. And we have so much more to do to make America a safer and more just place for moms and families.
Blog readers, I am proof, moms can change the world! Stand with me and MomsRising today with a gift right now.
