Get ready to break into a smile as you scroll down to see some fun pictures of DC MomsRising volunteers & their cute kids working to pass #PaidLeave4DC with hearts, glitter, targeted messaging, and superhero capes!
Thrilled by the introduction of the DC Universal Paid Leave Act, thousands of MomsRising members who live or work in DC signed onto an open letter to DC leaders in support of the policy; and more than twenty DC MomsRising members and their children came together with Jews United for Justice for a superhero day of action at the DC Council to meet with leaders, deliver a book of member signatures in support of DC paid family leave, and share their stories!
The Atlantic and National Journal covered our day of action!
Just ahead of the bill's third and final hearing in February, MomsRising and Jews United for Justice co-hosted a "DC Paid Leave Playdate" at the Petworth Library, where kids and families made #PaidLeave4DC valentines for the DC Council and Mayor Bowser. Face painting, balloon animals, a photo booth, games, and music helped fuel our high-impact fun! The Paid Leave Playdate even made the evening news on NBC - WATCH HERE!
I personally delivered each and every #PaidLeave4DC valentine made at the playdate to the DC Council and Mayor Bowser!
I also testified before the DC Council in support of paid family leave at the bill's public hearing on February 11th, sharing the voices and stories of MomsRising members and urging the Council to pass a strong bill. DC MomsRising members are fired up and ready to continue advocating for the District to lead on leave!
